Adding Text To Blank Buttons
Using Adobe Photoshop
1) Save the file to your hard drive, then open the file in Photoshop. 2) Click on Image, then Mode, then RGB Color. (This will allow your text to have smooth edges.) 3) On the tool bar, click on the top colored square. 4) From the spectrum, choose a color for your text, then click OK. 5) Click on the Text Tool (a large "T" on the tool bar). 6) Place the cursor where you wish the text to begin, and click. 7) Choose the size, font, and style of text. (Note: Make sure the "anti-aliased" option is checked.) 8) Type the text, and click OK. 9) If you wish to reposition the text, click on the Move Tool (on the upper right corner of the tool bar- a black triangle next to a plus-sign), then drag the text with your cursor. 10) Click on Layer, then Flatten Image. 11) Click on Image, then Mode, then Indexed Color. 12) Click OK when prompted. 13) Save the new image.
TIP: To make buttons easily readable, use light-colored text on dark buttons, and vice-versa.
Using Paint Shop Pro (Win95 version)
(Available as shareware from www.jasc.com).
1) Save the file to your hard drive, then open the file in Paint Shop Pro. 2) Click on Colors, then Increase Color Depth, then 16-million colors (or the highest number available). (This will allow your text to have smooth edges.) 3) From the spectrum, choose a color for your text by clicking on it. 4) Click on the Text Tool (a large "A" on the tool bar). 5) Place the cursor where you wish the text to begin, and click. 6) Choose the size, font, and style of text. (Note: Make sure the "anti-aliased" option and the "floating" option are checked.) 7) Type the text, and click OK. 8) Use the cursor to position the text. 9) When the text is positioned, click the right mouse button . 10) Click on Colors, then Decrease Color Depth, then 256 Colors. 11) Save the new image.
TIP: To make buttons easily readable, use light-colored text on dark buttons, and vice-versa.
