Step Six: Adding a background

This is always a difficult step because I can
never decide what kind of background I want, i.e. a
realistic-type background or a more abstract,
pattern-type background, so I usually end up
experimenting for a while. In this case I decide
that I want a very simple, smooth background. I
start by using the Fill command to fill the
background layer (the one that has been solid
black) with a dark turquoise color. |

That looks too flat, though, so then I use
the Render | Lighting Effects filter to give it a
slight color gradient. |
