what's new

June 8, 2000: I'm sorry I've been away so long. Between school and work, I haven't had much time to devote to this site. I'm finally out of school, though, so I'll try to spend a little more time here. I've got ideas for new essays and graphics...

October 22, 1999: It's a little later than I promised, but I've finally got the updates done! Changes are as follows:

New sections:

I've also added lots of new pages and images to the Doodles section, including a page of Graphics Sets. The Text Index of images has been completely revised-- clicking on a image description will now send the image to a new page where you can test it against different colored backgrounds. A Feedback Form and a Site Map have been added as well. And in the Scrawls section, a Reader's Gripes page has been added to allow visitors to submit their own Web Site Gripes.

I've also tried to fix minor problems and mistakes throughout the site. If you find any that I missed, please let me know!

April 4, 1999: A series of frog images has been added to the Reptile Clipart page.

April 2, 1999: Another new image, Hatching Alligator, is in the Murals section, and a clipart version of it is available on the Reptile Clipart page.

Also, check out Carol's Fox, an image created by a very talented young lady who was inspired by my Fox image.

Other news: March was this site's most successful month ever with over 20,000 visitors and 56,000 page-views. As always, a huge thank- you to those who help keep the traffic coming by using the images here and linking back to us! :)

March 19, 1999: Another new image, Ostrich, is in the Murals section.

March 18, 1999: There's a new image, Chameleon, in the Murals section.

The Doodles section has been restructured a little. The Miscellaneous Animals category was getting too big, so it has been split into three categories: Reptiles, Birds, and Misc. Animals. The Reptile and Bird pages each contain several new images. These images will be added to the Text Index soon.

March 15, 1999: Lots of news this week! First of all, there's new artwork on a number of pages: three new Murals, Dream Horse, Gold Hawk, and Blue & Gold Macaw, a new page of Horse Clipart, plus a few new images have been added to the Butterfly Clipart and Misc. Animal Clipart pages.

Second, The Stablegirl's Lair celebrated its first birthday this week!

Third, my Web Site Gripes was selected as The Mining Company's HTML Tip of the Day for March 15, 1999.

March 8, 1999: A new essay, Cathartic Rant: Recent Conversations With An Angel From Hell was added to the Scrawls section.

January 28, 1999: Due to problems with people linking directly to images and/or using images without giving me credit, links from the index page to the Doodles and Murals sections now link to explicit copyright notices.

January 20, 1999: Playful Colt has been added to the Murals section. Clipart of this image is available on Horses Two in the Doodles section.

January 15, 1999: HOORAY FOR '99! After a big holiday slump, I'm happy to announce that January looks to be the best month ever for The Stablegirl's Lair. In just the first two weeks we've had about 6000 visitors, 14000 total page-views, and 96000 total hits (including images)- and the numbers are climbing every day. Thank you to all who have visited- your patronage helps assure that the Lair will be here in the future for others to enjoy. Special thanks to those who send me feedback so that I can make the site even better, and HUGE THANKS to all of the angels and saints out there who've linked their pages to mine. I couldn't do it without you. :)

January 13, 1999:   I added a new page of cat graphics (Cats Three) to the Doodles section. I also added Lion Sitting Up to the Murals section.

A section of Reciprocal Links has been added to the Portals section.

Also, all pages now have a link to this page (News).

December 30, 1998:   All essays in the Scrawls section are now available as MS Word documents (.doc) for offline reading and printing. To download these files, follow the link at the bottom of each essay.

December 1, 1998:   An essay, "All I Want For Christmas" was added to the Scrawls section.

November 11-12, 1998:   I noticed that the side menus on many pages were doing some odd things when viewed at resolutions other than 800x600. Also, because I hadn't taken the width of the scroll bars into account when setting the widths of my tables, so slight horizontal scrolling was necessary when viewing the site at 640x480. I think I've eliminated all of those problems, now...

October 29, 1998:   Added another page of Animal Bars to the Doodles section. (Includes two butterfly bars, two rabbit bars, and a cartoon horse bar.)

October 28, 1998:   Added Moths and Flame to the Murals section. Also added a Cartoon Horse Clipart page to the Doodles section.

October 27, 1998:   Added Butterflies to the Murals section. Also added a Butterfly Clipart page to the Doodles section.

October 6, 1998:   Added Stargazing Rabbits to the Murals section. Also added a small rabbit image to Animals Page Two of the Doodles section.

October 1, 1998:   It's official: No more moving around!!! The Stablegirl's Lair now has its own domain! My wonderful, wonderful boyfriend Tyson (did I mention that he's wonderful?) gave it to me as an early Christmas present. :)

I've also added a Frequently Asked Questions section.

September 16, 1998:   Yes, it's yet ANOTHER new look for the Lair! I wasn't completely happy with the other one, so I did some tweaking. I think that the newest look is cleaner and more solid. I hope you agree...

September 4, 1998:   As you can see, a lot has changed here recently, and even more renovations will be taking place soon.

The big news, of course, is that The Stablegirl's Lair has a new home! It outgrew the old site on Prodigy, but Pam Honsinger, owner of  Keepin' The Faith: Cancer Support For The Heart And Soul came to the rescue by adopting the site. (Thank you, Pam!) Now that I've got room to expand The Lair, you should be seeing plenty of new stuff here over the new few months. (If you have ideas about what I should add, let me know!)

In the mean time, here's a run-down of the changes so far:

  • New logo and layout for the entire site, along with an improved (I hope!) navigation scheme and a more consistent color scheme.

  • The Doodles section is now sorted by category, and a text index of all images has been added.

  • Two new essays in the Scrawls section: Confessions of an HTML Snob and Ramblings and Reflections on Web Site Ownership.

  • The Professional section of Mirrors has been moved to a separate site. Professional information about me can now be found here.

  • The Murals section now includes scanned artwork as well as computer-generated work.

  • The Gems section is now four pages long and currently houses 28 awards.

More additions coming soon!
