This lion was a small part of a much larger pen-and-ink/watercolor drawing I did several years ago. The original was sold at a charity auction, and since that was long before color copies were affordable, all I have of it is a black-and-white photocopy. I scanned this in from the photocopy and edited out the background. I then re-added the color and added a slight drop shadow to sort of lift it off of the page. It still looked too flat to me, so I gave the lion a slight canvas texture and added a mosaic pattern to the background. January 1999.
