Step Nine: Final adjustments

Next I decide that the donkey needs to stand out a bit more. I accomplish this by Colorizing him slightly to give him a blue tint. (I chose blue because the background is a muted shade of orange. Blue and orange are opposite colors and therefore make one another stand out. Purple/yellow and red/green are other pairs of opposite colors.)

 

Finally, I decide that the background should be slightly more red.

At this point I would make final size adjustments and crop any excess canvas.

That's all there is to it! No black magic involved- just a bit of practice and some basic art theory...
