This hawk wasn't actually based on a scanned image. Instead, it's based on a flag that I made as a gift for my boyfriend to celebrate the second anniversary of our first date. The flag was made of black and gold satin, and the hawk emblem (a "hawk rising") was the heraldic symbol of his paternal ancestors. (Those claws were a real bear to sew!!) It currently hangs in his home, above the fireplace.
