Trick Three:
Creating Grass with the Eye Candy "Fur" Filter

Creating the appearance of grass (a difficult task if you're doing it by hand) can be done very quickly and easily if you own the Eye Candy filters from Alien Skin Software.

Start by painting a patch of solid green on a separate layer, like this:

Then apply the Fur filter to that layer, adjusting the length and spacing of the "hair" to suit your needs:

Now use a soft Eraser to soften the top edge of the grass:
