Q:
May I re-distribute your Gripes to my
students/employees/friends/etc.?
A:
Yes, you may freely
distribute any of my essays (in electronic form
or in hard copies) as long as my e-mail address,
URL, and copyright notice are included. (Note:
All essays are now available as MS Word documents
which include the necessary copyright
information.)

Q:
Can I include your graphics in another on-line
graphics collection?
A:
I make these decisions on a
case-by-case basis, so please ask me first. Unless you have express
written permission from me, my graphics are not
to be used in any other collections or archives.

Q: May I
alter some of your graphics for use on a
non-commercial page?
A: Yes, you may change my graphics
(alter the color, add text, reduce the size,
etc.) to fit your page, but you still must give
me credit (For example: "The logo for this
page was adapted from a graphic by The
Stablegirl.") and a link.

Q: Is it
okay if I make a print-out of some of your
graphics?
A: Yes. My graphics are free for any
non-commercial use. However, these graphics are
designed to be viewed on a computer screen. This
means that they use very low resolution and may
not print correctly on high-resolution printers.

Q: Do
you ever allow your graphics to be used on
commercial pages?
A: I have been known to make
arrangements for small businesses to use one of
my public graphics, so you may occasionally see
one of these images on a commercial site. I make
these decisions on a case-by-case basis, so please ask me first.

Q: How
do you create your graphics? Do you draw them by
hand or use other clipart?
A: Almost without exception, my
graphics are 100% original; I don't use anyone
else's clipart. Most of them are drawn (with a
mouse) and painted by hand in Photoshop. Some
were originally drawn in a vector-drawing
program such as CorelDraw, then imported to
Photoshop and painted. Recently I've also begun
making sketches on paper and then scanning them
into Photoshop to paint them, and on a few
occasions I've used characters from freeware
wingding fonts to get the shape for an image and
then I painted it and filled in the details.

Q: Do you know where I can find [fill in the
blank] clipart? (example: raven clipart, sheep clipart, cow clipart,
etc..)
A: Probably not, as I don't do much surfing. Most of my time on the Net
is spent working on this site or answering e-mail. I suggest that you try About.com or DesktopPublishing.com, both of which have extensive lists of clipart links sorted by subject matter. I also recommend using MetaCrawler to search for the phrease "pig clipart" (or whatever it is you're looking for).

Q: Will you make me a [fill in the blank]? (example: banner, button, web page, etc..)
A: When possible, I still try to donate graphics, banners, web pages, etc. to "good causes"- usually small, non-funded or low-funded non-profit organizations. For the most part, though, I've had to stop doing free graphics. I've also stopped doing paid projects for clients outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth area-- it's just too hard to coordinate
something like that without being able to meet face to face. (Plus, I got "burned" too many times, i.e. I spent time on graphics or sketches and then had the client back out without paying.)
